I'm so grateful that you are here and taking some time to listen to a podcast that is about bettering yourself and your health and well-being. So thank you so much for being here.
Speaker 1:I am so excited about today's episode. I thought I would just do something a little bit fun, a little bit light, and I would give you some of my best products, tips, ideas of things to get into your life this summer season, things that are going to help you be healthier, help your wellness, make you feel good, just give you good vibes, because that's what we all want, right? Okay, so, in no particular order, I just have a bunch of things that I want to share with you. So first thing is going to be covering, like sun protection, which you know I am very fair skinned. I burn, like at the first sight of sun when the weather starts to turn, and it's something that I'm really cautious about because I've burned so many times in my life.
Speaker 1:But a couple products that I absolutely love. The first one is by Clear Stem, and I've mentioned them before in this podcast, but I love all of their stuff. Specifically, it's called Sunny Sidekick and it is their powdered SPF 30. So you can keep it in your purse, you can pop it open, you can reapply it on your face really quickly. You can put it on your arms, you can put it on your hands, your shoulders if you're outside, like whatever part of the skin is exposed. But it is a powder formula and I just find that, like you don't get all gooky. You know, like a lot of the creams and gels and sprays, you're all like sticky and gooky. I don't know about you, but I hate feeling that way. So this is like my number one go-to sunscreen and I do have a link if you put my code in hot mess, mom health, you get 15% off anything from the site and I do love all of their stuff. But specifically speaking about sunscreen, I absolutely love their sunny sidekick sunscreen, now also being fair-skinned.
Speaker 1:I don't know what it is about my lips, but they always get burnt by the sun. So there's a whole line of like lip balms, lip gloss, lip stain, clear colors, all kinds of things from Supergoop Really funny name, but they have tons of stuff with all SPF, good for your lips, hydrating, love all of their stuff. Like, if you want something clear, they have something for that. If you want more of a balm, they have something for that. Or if you want just a little bit of color. They have something for that as well, all with SPF in it. So make sure you don't burn your lips. Check out Supergoop for that, and everything's going to be linked in the show notes where you can just click a link and it'll take you right to what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1:Next, again under sun protection, is recently I was at the pool and I just was like, oh, I wish I could have like a better sun hat, but with a ponytail holder, and I didn't own anything besides like a baseball cap. So I started perusing the internet and I found this company called Ponyflow and they have the cutest ponytail whole hats like all kinds of hats bucket hats, sun hats, baseball caps like all different kinds of baseball caps, all different kinds of bucket hats, all different kinds of sun hats but they all take, you know, in account that you have a ponytail. So I recently ordered about five hats from there and I ordered one for my daughter, and right now they're running a promotion where they throw in a free guy's hat. So my husband has one too now. It doesn't have the ponytail holder, but it's totally breathable, waterproof, dries in seconds if it's dry, and they're really good quality. So far I've been really happy. So check them out if you're looking for something that's going to give you, like, more coverage for your face and also coverage for the back of your neck.
Speaker 1:So a lot of times if I'm at the pool or outside, like during a hot sunny day, I don't necessarily want my hair down because it's just so hot. So I want my hair in a ponytail, but I also want my neck to not get burnt. So having that like bucket hat type or the sun hat type with the ponytail holder is a win-win for me. So I hope you can check them out. The link is in the show notes for their sun hat collection, but you can peruse their website. Really cute hats. Okay.
Speaker 1:Next thing is I don't know about you, but just because of the sun and just being feeling dry, I kind of like look to more, like exfoliate in the summer and have my skin just looking brighter. And another product from ClearStem that I love is called Pregame, and this is something I keep a little jar in my shower all the time. Once a week, whenever I'm feeling like my skin's starting to need like a refresher, like maybe I've been in the sun too many days, I will use this product. I will wash my face first before I do anything else in the shower, and then I will put this on as a mask and leave it on for about five to six minutes and brush it like rub it off with the water and let me tell you, your face feels like a baby's butt. It's so just like soft and smooth and and I don't even know how to explain it but it's like one of the best masks that I've ever used. So, like I said, I don't go without it. It's always in my shower. The link is in the show notes and again, you can use my code, hotmessmomhealth, for 15% off anything from Claire's website.
Speaker 1:My next thing that I'm going to talk about is I don't know what you call it, but like a vegetable chopper, I guess. But what it is, I don't know the technical term for all the blades, but the one that I use I put in the show notes. It's from Amazon. It's not expensive at all. The one I think I selected too has a 25% off like discount right now, so it's super cheap.
Speaker 1:But it has the little like cubed, like it almost puts like your onion or your tomato in like a little cube. And I don't know about you, but if I'm like trying to eat healthy and trying to eat more salads, like just incorporate more fruits and vegetables in my diet, I like them being cubed. I don't know what it is about it. Maybe it reminds me of like when I was little and I used to go to the Ponderosa Diner at the salad bar. I don't know if you can relate or if you've ever been to that, but the little ham that was cubed. It seemed like their tomatoes were cubed. Everything was in these tiny cute little cubes. So I don't know, but this thing reminds me of it, and you basically put your food on this cube grate and it chops it instantly with stainless steel blades into this bottom vat. So you can do bacon, you can do eggs, you can do you know, onion tomato, you can do your lunch meat, like if you want to like have everything kind of diced really nicely on your salad. It's super easy to do. So I love this thing. You can do tons of other stuff with it too. Like I said, it's a 13 in one, so like it shreds, it grates, it does all this stuff. But honestly I love it it and it's worth it just for that little cubing um blade that it comes with. Like I said, I don't know the technical term, but it makes things cute and like cubed. So I'm in for that and okay.
Speaker 1:My next thing and this is something that I feel like all of us need like a good flowy dress that we just feel good in, right, like that we just feel confident in, and my two, like that we just feel confident in, and my two places for going to, for this. Now, I am also five foot tall. I'm super petite. So when I'm looking for dresses, petite dresses are definitely something I'm gravitating towards, because otherwise I'm getting things hemmed and all that other stuff which I'm just not into. But my two go-to stores I'm not putting or linking a specific dress, but if you're out and you're just looking for a place to go and you want to check out and I do shop online a lot too I do just shop and then return whatever I don't like because I'm kind of lazy and I don't have a lot of time. But if you go to loftcom, I love their petite dresses and obviously they come in regular lengths as well, but they have a lot of cute options typically for, like, just maxi dresses, cute flowy skirts, things like that, and my other go-to is, oddly enough. So there's obviously JCrew, and then there's their JCrew outlet which is called JCrew factory. I find that the better flowy dresses that are just like cute for summer actually are at the factory and they're much cheaper and they have better sales. I do like JCrew, but when it comes to like looking for cute summer dresses, I have better luck, especially if you're petite, because I don't see a lot of petite options on their regular dresses most of the time. So my go-to for that is JCrew factory, and a bonus with that is they usually have like sometimes every season they'll have one or two dresses that my daughter matches, so we'll have matching dresses, which is super cute too. Um, so for cute flowy summer dresses that just give you good vibes, make you feel good, um, loft or jcrew factory are my two go-tos.
Speaker 1:All right, the next thing is going to be it's called the finished journal. I put the link in the show notes. Now I I knew this was coming out and I ordered it right away. So I have one coming. I do not physically have it yet, but it's by a guy named John Acuff. Now he has a podcast. He's. He has written a lot of books. He's all about goals, reaching your goals, how to get there, the best ways to get there, all of those things. So I really look up to him when it comes to thinking about how I'm going to better reach my goals, how I'm going to do it more efficiently, how I'm going to stay consistent, things like that. And he came out with this thing called the Finish Journal.
Speaker 1:Now I, like I said, I don't have it in my hands, but to me this is a must have if you are looking to attain any goal. It has positive things. It has almost a book in it I think, from what I read, like a 42-page book but basically it helps you plan, track and accomplish your next goal. So I'm so excited to get mine Right now. It looks like the website. They're only doing wait lists because it's sold out so fast, but something to keep your eye on this summer.
Speaker 1:If you are working towards any goal and it doesn't have to be health and wellness related. It could be any goal at all, whether you're trying to reach a financial goal, maybe you're trying to look for a new job, maybe you're just trying to be better with your spending. Whatever your goal is, and if it's weight loss, health and wellness. Obviously, that would work too, but it could be for so many different aspects of your life and to me, like I always look for things that are going to help me strategize and keep me on track in the most efficient way possible, and everything I've read if you go to the link, it just looks like this is like so motivating, so positive, moving you forward, keeping you on track, keeping you on target, and I haven't seen a lot of other things that are like this out there. So I wanted to recommend this Check out the website, get yourself on the waiting list and invest in yourself to get one of these. Once I get mine in the mail, I will maybe even do a whole episode on this, because I think it's that important that when there's something out there that can help us reach our goals, that we invest in it and we utilize the tools that we have to make us achieve our goals faster, right, okay, Next thing is a good podcast. We all need a good podcast. Thank you for listening to this one. However, if you're looking for something else that maybe is not as directed towards health and wellness, that is going to just be that go-to motivation, scientific, you know, deep dive into, like how to better yourself.
Speaker 1:I love the Mel Robbins podcast. If you've listened to this podcast, you know I absolutely love and adore Mel Robbins. I just think every single time she interviews someone she is just like bam, bam, bam, hitting all the nails on the head. She asks the most amazing questions, she brings on the most amazing guests and and her topics just like they just reach deep, like they really hit home with me and I'm just going to assume that if you're listening to this, you're similar to me, so they're going to resonate with you too, whether it's like how to be better in your marriage, how to ask better questions, like just neuroscience stuff, psychology stuff, how to be better with your money, how to reach goals she has some health and wellness on there too, but it's mostly just about how to become that better version of yourself and that change for you is possible and she just has a way. But I find her so motivating, so engaging and all the things. So if you're not listening to her podcast, I highly recommend you subscribe to the Mel Robbins podcast and I did link that in the show notes as well.
Speaker 1:And last but not least, we all need a good summer book.
Speaker 1:Now I just finished reading this book. It is amazing. If you're on a health and wellness journey, I cannot recommend this book enough. Again, I think I'm going to do a whole episode on this book like a book review. It is that good and I honestly believe that every single person that can read a book should read this book. It's that good.
Speaker 1:It is called Good Energy by Casey Means, and she's a doctor and she has been through her own health journey. She had watched her mom pass away from cancer and she's worked in the medical system and saw. You know all the things that go on internally and just between her and her brother and what they know. You understand and make sense of all the technical things and really brings it down to granular things that we can do every single day to make ourselves have good energy. The book's called Good Energy and it's really about, like, the connection of what we're putting in our mouth, what we're consuming and how to have health, like how to have overall health and how to bring more good energy to your life and all the different ways that you can do that, and I just think she makes it so tangible for all of us.
Speaker 1:So if you're looking for something this summer to read that's not like superly scientific, but that it was going to bring you some hardcore information to make you understand and realize, kind of like, the outer workings that are going on all around us as far as, like, the food companies how food is affecting us, how different light is affecting us, how screens are affecting us, things that we can do to, you know, negate some of this stuff and really digging into like mitochondria, health and our metabolism and all of the things. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I might even read it again because it's so good and I want to make sure I got it all. But if you're looking for a book that just is something that can maybe, you know, bring something better to your life, help you understand the health and wellness field a little bit more, I love this book and cannot recommend it enough. So I hope you guys found something interesting or new product that you want to try on this list. I know that I'm super excited about getting the finished journal and everything else on here I have and I love and I hope you guys do too. But please feel free to email me or share with me how you guys. You know like these episodes where I give you some product knowledge, product things that I'm using. If you try them, please let me know too. I would love to know how something's working out for you that I recommended, as always.
